As Permanent Supportive Housing is treatment optional, some residents might be using drugs when they occupy the units. Is there a plan to reduce the potential stream of drugs into the community by Elderberry Commons residents?

Transitional housing sites with a total of 95 housing slots closed in 2023, Gause said, referring to Elderberry Commons, a former Sebastopol motel converted into homeless housing with 45 beds and a camp of 50 trailers at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

The county closed down Elderberry Commons last April to turn it into permanent supportive housing; as of now it is expected to be ready for occupancy in early 2025.
